Stuart started his career in the entertainment industry working as a Coordinator on the opening and closing ceremonies at the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992.
Stuart then moved into the music business as a Production Manager on the PHIL COLLINS, BOTH SIDES OF THE WORLD TOUR ‘94-’95. A key member running the administrative and logistical planning of the world tour, which performed over 140 live concerts in 48 countries across all five continents to over one million people.
In 1996 after doing stints at film production companies in Los Angeles Stuart returned to the family company, Celtic Films, to take up the position firstly as Head of Development and then as a Producer. Celtic is one of the leading UK film and drama producers having produced amongst others numerous award winning shows such as THE SAINT, the SHARPE TV series starring Sean Bean and the Emmy award winning HORNBLOWER series.
Whilst at Celtic, Stuart also acted as a TV sales agent for several leading international production companies such as Australia’s Beyond TV in Latin America.
In 2001 Stuart was a Producer on the romantic comedy feature film, GIRL FROM RIO, starring Hugh Laurie and Spanish star Santiago Segura which won Best International Film at the Hollywood Film festival. The film was shot on location in London and Rio de Janeiro.
Stuart was then Executive Producer and structured the finance for the return of one of the UK’s best loved TV franchises, SHARPE, which resulted in the SHARPE’S CHALLENGE 2006 mini-series and the SHARPE’S PERIL mini-series in 2008 which were both shot on location in India. The average audience of both series was 7 million viewers.
In 2010/11 Stuart served as Executive Producer on a number of films including A LONG WEEKEND, The COURIER starring Mickey Rourke and BAIT a shark thriller set in Australia which went on to become one of the 20 highest grossing movies in China of that year.
In 2013, through Celtic, Stuart provided the production services for Russia’s legendary director, Vladimir Bortko’s $15m spy thriller SOUL OF A SPY.
In the same year Stuart set up the production company Celtic Films Pvt Ltd based in Mumbai, India to service international productions shooting there. This resulted in Stuart Co-Producing the renowned Russian director Peter Buslov’s “MOTHERLAND” in 2014. The film was shot entirely on location in the state of Goa.
2013 also saw Stuart co-found Celtic Digital which specialises in providing production services for commercials and photo shoots. Amongst many, clients include Vogue India and Ziraat Bankasi (Turkey’s largest bank). Stuart is also a partner in his brother’s Madrid based Spanish production services company Celtic Films España SA which provided the production services for FOUR LIONS the BAFTA award winning film for outstanding debut director and ANY HUMAN HEART which also went on to win the BAFTA for best Mini Series in 2011.
Stuart is currently developing several film and TV projects for the international market place.
Stuart is also a voting BAFTA member and holds a BA (honours) degree from The European Business School (London) in International Business Administration, and has undertaken extension courses in Film Finance and Producing for Television at UCLA.
